Can a third party maintain Dell PowerEdge servers after ProSupport ends?
Yes. PowerEdge is the most common platform on third-party maintenance contracts. Parts are widely available on the secondary market, failure modes are well documented, and no Dell entitlement is needed to replace a drive, DIMM, PSU or system board.
What happens to Dell firmware updates?
Dell stops publishing firmware for a platform at end of service life whether you are on ProSupport or not. Before EOSL, firmware for most PowerEdge models is downloadable from Dell support without an active contract. We tell you per model where that is not the case.
Will Dell honor the warranty if a third party touches the server?
Outside warranty there is nothing to honor. Inside warranty, leave it on Dell. We say the same on every quote.
