What EOSL means for a box in production

End of service life is the date the manufacturer stops selling support contracts for a model. The hardware keeps running. What goes away is the OEM parts depot and the OEM engineers for that model. After that date, a failed drive or controller is your problem unless someone else holds the spares.

Self-spare
You buy used parts from brokers and fix it in-house. It works until the part you need is the one no broker has.
